Our History
Today
If you are searching for a place to worship you may want to come by and attend one of our services or catch us online >>here<<.
Today Maranatha is an established fellowship within the community. The church is a home passed down through generations. We provide a sanctuary for support, encouragement, and spiritual growth. Our ministries are involved in relief programs, as members of the Adult congregation and Youth services have traveled to other states to offer help and assistance. You can meet and connect with famous people and artists through our special events. Come, make new friends, and feel welcomed and accepted when you walk through our door step! We look forward to meeting you!
The early beginnings
Maranatha started as a coffeehouse ministry of the Church of the Nazarene in New Milford, New Jersey in 1969. As an answer to the prayers of the people in a small, struggling church, a youth revival occurred under the unlikely pairing of a Midwest pastor and a guitar-playing Beatles-worshipping Italian American Jersey kid.

The move to Paramus
In 1984 Maranatha moved to its present location in Paramus. The building had previously been a Jewish Community Center. The Sanctuary had been a swimming pool. Many improvements have made it what it is today. For a while, a Messianic Jewish congregation worshiped in the basement.
Several churches have sprung up from people who felt God calling them to start a new ministry. Many of these incorporated the current music style with guitars and a band that Maranatha had been instrumental in establishing. The church has sponsored many trips to Israel; some of these have included concerts with Maranatha's Emmaeus Road Band.
